Roi Roi Binale - The First Assamese Musical

Roi Roi Binale is a musical love story — was Zubeen Garg's last project, a film he was deeply passionate about.

The film is directed by Assamese filmmaker Rajesh Bhuyan. It has been a long-standing dream project for Zubeen. It was originally conceived back in 2007, but due to difficulties in the Assamese film industry and Zubeen’s own busy schedule, it was shelved — only to be revived about three years ago.

Despite Zubeen Garg's demise, the family and the team have decided to release nationwide (India) on October 31, 2025. This was a date Zubeen himself wanted for the release.

Zubeen Garg is credited with writing the story and composing the music for the film. His voice recordings are used — about 80-90% of his on-screen voice has apparently been preserved clearly (thanks to recordings with a lapel mic). Full voice dubbing was not completed in some parts before his untimely death. This has been acknowledged as a “void” in the film.

Zubeen plays a “blind artist” — a role described as “very different.” This was one of the creative aspects that excited him about the project. The film is being positioned as Assam’s first true musical movie. More than 15 songs are part of the film. A portion of the filming was done abroad — for example, nearly a quarter of the footage was shot in Sri Lanka.

Emotional Significance & Tribute
Since Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19, 2025, the film has become more than just entertainment — it is a final artistic statement, a tribute to his talent and love for Assamese music and cinema.
